Leadership Excellence in the Travel industry graduation_second programme
Positive2Work Skillnet and Irish Travel Agents Association Welcome Graduates of Travel Industry Leadership Programme
Graduates of the Positive2Work Skillnet and Irish Travel Agents Association ‘Leadership Excellence in the Travel Industry’ programme were presented with their certificates by Minister of State for Transport James Lawless at a special ceremony today.
This represents the second group of ITAA travel professionals who have completed the programme and developed much needed skills in leadership, digitalisation, sustainability and the use of artificial intelligence as a business tool. The Leadership Excellence programme has been developed by the Irish Travel Agents Association, Positve2Work Skillnet – one of 70 Skillnet Business Networks nationwide – and travel experts with the intention of building a course relevant to the travel industry.
Presenting the graduates with their certificates, Minister of State James Lawless said, “As Minister
I am delighted to meet this group of aspiring travel leaders who represent the second group of ITAA members to have completed the programme and develop much needed skills. Congratulations also to the ITAA and Positive2Work Skillnet for their commitment to the project and their diligence in ensuring the successful delivery of the programme.”
At the graduation ceremony, ITAA President Angela Walsh highlighted the ITAA’s commitment to fostering future leaders and the impressive talent now rising through the ranks. “Feedback from both participants and employers on the Leadership Excellence in the Travel Industry programme has been overwhelmingly positive. The ITAA is incredibly proud of these graduates for their hard work and dedication over the past few months. Their achievements showcase the potential and promise of the next generation of travel leaders. We’re excited to see them bring fresh insights to their careers, and the ITAA is proud to be driving initiatives that ensure our industry has a strong, capable future.”
Gráinne O’Boyle, Director, Positive2work Skillnet, said: “Positive2Work Skillnet congratulates all participants and thanks the ITAA executive for their commitment to the project and their diligence in ensuring the successful delivery of the programme. Providing cutting-edge, industry-relevant training empowers and strengthens the workforce. The collaboration between Postive2work Skillnet and the Irish Travel Agents Association underscores our commitment to fostering leadership excellence in SME sectors such as the travel industry.”
Clare Dunne, ITAA CEO, added, “The travel sector has faced significant challenges in recent years with COVID, Industrial action both domestically and overseas, and adverse weather conditions. Following consultations with the ITAA, Positive2Work Skillnet provided supports for the development of a pilot Industry-Specific Leadership Programme for ITAA members. In advance of delivering the programme research was carried out to establish our members’ needs and anticipated outcomes. The end result of that consultation process has been the implementation of the Leadership Excellence in the Travel Industry programme.”
