Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) urges holidaymakers to book with Irish-based travel agents to avoid disruption caused by FTI Group insolvency

The ITAA advises holidaymakers to always book with an ITAA member travel agent

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has urged holidaymakers to book with an ITAA member, Irish-based travel agent to avoid disruption caused by FTI Group insolvency.

FTI Group, one of Europe’s biggest tour companies, filed for insolvency on Monday, June 3. One of its subsidiaries is YouTravel, which supplies accommodation to multiple travel agents in Ireland as well as online travel agents.

The ITAA strongly recommends holidaymakers to book with Irish travel agent who is registered and based in Ireland to ensure their consumer rights are protected. By booking with an Irish-based ITAA travel agent, holidaymakers can speak to the travel agent with whom they booked the holiday.

ITAA member Irish travel agents have promptly deployed dedicated teams to address customer inquiries. Clare Dunne, CEO of the ITAA said, “The ITAA advises booking your holiday with an ITAA Member Irish-based, licensed, and bonded travel agent who will be available when you need them. Just because a company has an Irish phone number or a .ie website does not mean they are based in Ireland. It’s essential to book with a travel company that is easily contactable. All ITAA travel agents are committed to great customer service. You can view a full list of our members on www.itaa.ie.”

Irish-based, licensed and bonded travel agents offer financial protections under the European Package Travel Directive. This ensures that consumers are protected at all times.
