ITAA pay tribute to ‘inspirational’ businesswoman Gillian Bowler

Dublin, 16th December 2016 The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has today expressed its deepest sympathies for the family and friends of Gillian Bowler, founder of Budget Travel, who passed away yesterday.


Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA said, “Gillian revolutionised the charter holiday business and grew her business, Budget Travel, into the biggest in Ireland. She brought affordable sun holidays to Irish holidaymakers.”


He continued, “The ITAA and the whole Irish travel trade are very saddened by Gillian’s passing. She was a hugely influential figure in the travel trade and an inspiration to all of us. We are thinking of Gillian’s husband Harry, her family and her friends at this difficult time.”


The ITAA represents Ireland’s travel Industry, bringing together 100 travel agent members and 70 affiliate partners. ITAA members cover over 140 outlets in different towns and cities throughout the Republic of Ireland. All travel agent members are licensed by the Commission for Aviation Regulation and are fully bonded providing full financial protection for their customers.
