The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has congratulated Cork Airport on their announcement today that the Icelandic low cost operator WOW air is to commence a new Cork – Reykjavik service next year, bringing low-cost transatlantic connections from Cork to eight key destinations across the US and Canada.
This new route is the first for WOW air in the region. The new service will start from May 19, 2017, and will operate four weekly flights during the Summer 2017 season and three weekly services during Winter 2017. The airline’s one-way air fares to Reykjavik will start at €59.99 each way including taxes and charges.
Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA, commented, “This new service by WOW air will give people in the region access to low cost transatlantic travel, allowing them to visit family and friends in the US, as well as giving them the opportunity to visit eight new destinations in the US and Canada. It also offers holidaymakers in the region a chance to book their bucket list trip to the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, in beautiful Iceland. We urge the people of Munster to make use of this fantastic new service now on their doorstep.”
He continued, “This new WOW air route will see an additional 66,000 seats available from Cork Airport next year. This is very positive news for both inbound and outbound travel in Munster. The ITAA would like to congratulate Cork Airport for securing this route and we wish them all the best with their expansion into this new region.”
